Meet the founders of the first Fab City Hubs on-the-making in Europe!

Fab City Hub Voices is a series of webinars to learn about the challenges involved in activating productive and creative hubs, but also to understand all the opportunities they open up for the local innovation ecosystem. Through these meetings we aim to highlight the difficulties and challenges faced by the promoters of these spaces, but also the progress they propose for the territorial ecosystem along 5 main lines: Circular Economy, Social Inclusion, Vocational Training and Heritage.

Guest speaker: Milena Juarez Calvo

Milena Juarez is a Brazilian environmental engineer with a master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability and specialization in Urban and Industrial Ecology. With a large experience in research, Milena has been actively involved in various interdisciplinary research projects in the field of circular economy, resilient cities, and sustainable food systems. She currently coordinates the Barcelona pilot for CENTRINNO at Fab Lab Barcelona/IAAC and supports the activities at the local Fab City Hub.

PRESENTATION

This session presents how the Fab City Hub Barcelona is contributing to the local urban ecosystem of Poblenou by organising participatory activities and fostering opportunities for collaborations. The events range from workshops exploring crafts and digital fabrication practices to discussion panels with relevant experts and the development of skill-building programmes. This session also includes an alternative approach taken by the Barcelona pilot to using an emblematic heritage site of the city as a temporary creative hub.
