The reuse of wood at the city scale: Opportunities and barriers for local production

Join the second Roundtable on the 11th May of the Poblenou Fabrica exhibition (5 May – 15 June), portraying the evolution of Poblenou’s tangible and intangible productive heritage.

Wood has been one of the essential materials in the development of techniques and applications throughout history. In urban planning, its uses are the most varied, developing a wide range of works, arts and crafts. In both the construction and cabinetmaking sectors, it is necessary to rethink strategies for reuse and recycling of these materials. Is it possible to increase the consumption of local wood or wood recovered from the demolition sector in the urban environment? What are the main barriers and opportunities for the use of this resource following the principles of the circular economy?

In this roundtable, Fab Lab Barcelona invites Paisaje Transversal to moderate a discussion among experts on chances and challenges in the wood sector for a local, distributed and sustainable production.

  • Pablo Muñoz Unceta, Architect, urban planner and researcher in Paisaje Transversal
