The role of Poblenou’s industrial heritage: Present and future uses as urban identity – Barcelona

Join the third Roundtable on the 18th May of the Poblenou Fabrica exhibition (5 May – 15 June), portraying the evolution of Poblenou’s tangible and intangible productive heritage.

The preservation of the industrial memory of Poblenou has been one of the claims of a district that has undergone a profound transformation of its industrial heritage in recent years. A process that began in the post-Olympic Barcelona and that has opened a debate on what should be the future of the neighborhood, with conflicting viewpoints, interests and arguments that, however, must reach a consensus for the benefit of the identity and the future of this territory.

There are old industrial sites, distributed throughout the neighborhood, which have gone through different transformation processes that, nevertheless, carry with them important historical elements and influence in the formation of the current social fabric. In this round table, we will talk with experts about the role of the industrial heritage of Poblenou and the need for its conservation and recovery for new uses.
